👉 Using PPA [To get the latest version].

By using the Ubuntu Software Center, it's not sure that you may get the latest version! To know why read Point No.4?
We have to add the PPA of GIMP for that in Terminal of Ubuntu.
Where we get that PPA?
1. Open your web browser and search for GIMP PPA click the first link.

Install GIMP

2. Copy the first command from installing. 3. Open your Terminal [Ctrl+Alt+T ] and paste [Ctrl+Shift+V] into the command.
 Install GIMP

4. Then press Enter and type your Sudo(superuser) password and again hit Enter.

Your entered password never shows in the terminal to make your password more secure. you just have to type the correct password and press Enter key.

Press Enter, if it asks again.

Install GIMP

Then the repository is successfully added to the sources. list file on your computer.

5. To update the sources.list file you have to type the below command in terminal and press Enter.

    sudo apt update

Install GIMP
It updates the GIMP Repository to get information on the newest versions of packages and their dependencies.

6. Now type the below command in your terminal to install the latest version of GIMP.

And after that, your Gimp is successfully installed in your ubuntu operating system.

Not only ubuntu most of Linux distro and also all versions of ubuntu like 12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS, 17.10, but 18.04 LTS also follow the same process only difference is an older version of ubuntu follow apt-get instead of apt and all are same.

Remove GIMP:-

To completely remove GIMP with the PPA from your operating system you should run the following two commands in your Ubuntu terminal.

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:otto-
